Prof. Goski Alabi is a renowned Ghanaian academic, author, and entrepreneur with significant contributions to education and leadership in Ghana. She was the founding Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and currently serves as the Dean of the Centre for International Education and Collaboration at UPSA. She is also the President and co-founder of Laweh Open University, the first accredited Open University College in Ghana, established in 2014.
Early Life and Education
Born in Accra and raised in Nungua, Greater Accra Region, Goski Alabi attended Ada Secondary School, Nungua Secondary School (GCE Ordinary Level), and St. Mary’s Senior High School (GCE Advanced Level). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, a Master of Philosophy in Food Science from the University of Ghana, a Doctor of Business Administration from the Swiss Management Centre, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Central University of Nicaragua.
Career
Alabi began her career as a lecturer at the Institute of Professional Studies, now UPSA. As the founding Dean of the School of Graduate Studies at UPSA, she facilitated the establishment of two leadership centers: the Drolor Centre for Strategic Leadership and the Otumfuo Centre for Traditional Leadership. Today, she is a Professor of Quality Management and Leadership. She co-founded Laweh Open University with her husband, Prof. Joshua Alabi, where she serves as President.
Publications and Professional Engagement
Goski Alabi has published widely in scholarly journals, book chapters, and technical papers. Her notable work, Managing for Excellence in the Twenty-First Century: The Total Quality Approach, was published in 2016. She is the West African Representative for the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) and serves as the board chairperson of the African Network for Internationalization of Education (ANIE).
Philanthropy
Alabi founded the GAB Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting vulnerable and marginalized individuals. In January 2020, the foundation celebrated its 20th anniversary, during which it provided scholarships to two persons with disabilities for education at Laweh Open University.
Personal Life
Goski Alabi is married to Joshua Alabi, a Ghanaian academic and politician who served as the first Vice-Chancellor of UPSA from 2012 to 2016. Together, they have two children.
